Our mission is to develop cargo UAVs for the Air Cargo Challenge, an international competition.
The aim of the Air Cargo Challenge is to create cargo UAVs capable of accomplishing a specific mission. Scoring parameters include the payload our models can carry, their speed, and their efficiency.
The newborn division of the team represents a unification of the fields of aeronautics and space propulsion.
Advanced Propulsion Aircraft (APA) is designing an UAV able to distinguish itself for the maximum velocity that is able to reach, thanks to a specifically designed rocket engine.
Design and construction of a sustainable aircraft with unlimited autonomy. This Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is completely
electric and powered solely by solar panels.
Record Aircraft (RA), born in 2017, is an ambitious project that is part of the current industrial and energy development: this UAV relies on solar energy that powers the electric motor and the other aircraft systems.
The IT department is responsible for all electronic and computer systems required for our operations. These systems are fully custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of each project. This approach enables us to develop an in-depth understanding of how each system component works, thereby enhancing safety and performance.
Our main areas of interest are: RF, power electronics, data acquisition, telemetry, control and sensor fusion algorithms.
ICARUS was founded in 2015, now we have over 130 members in total. We have built 8 prototypes and done over 100 flight tests!
In our team, you’ll have the chance to work on real aerospace projects from initial design to lab and field testing.
